Our superstars this week

Look at our fantastic superstars this week. MO received the special terrific person award for her progress in Reading and for being a lovely, caring class member. LT won the values for being so responsible!

The cold never bothered us anyway....

In Room 8, we are not letting the cold bother us and we have been doing some awesome writing about Jack Frost as the cold snap has come at last! 

We are also singing this song most days to warm up our vocal chords and to practice singing all together. Have a listen....

Our superstars of the week

Congratulations to WS and SP! WS is our special terrific person for his awesome contributions to class discussion and for being an awesome friend to Axel, our class axolotl. SP is our values person because she is always so responsible!

Well done you two!

Singing with Botany Downs kindergarten...

We had the honour of being asked to sing at this week's assembly with the Botany Downs kindy kids. They all sung beautifully. 

Room 8 had been practicing every day and we even had a practice with the kindy over Skype during our Thursday session so we were all on the same page. 

We loved singing with you and think we should all collaborate together again soon!

Do you want to build a snowman?

Last night, there was a hail storm at CB's house. CB and her Mum made this snowman and it was cool. 

The snowman has black jellybeans for his eyes and half a carrot for his nose. CB wanted to make Olaf from the movie, Frozen but she did not have enough hail. 

We broke the snowman so we could make another snowman and we are going to collect as many pieces of snow as we can. The snowman lives in our freezer now. CB

Room 8 singing the Maori colour song with New Zealand Sign Language

Its New Zealand Sign Language week, 12th to the 18th of May and we have been learning this song for the last four weeks.

Our week ahead...

This week our goals is to:

Be good to our teachers and our friends. KM

Be nice to all our friends and if you see someone alone, you can play with them and then you will get to know them. CF

Being kind to your friends and hug them if they are sad. HT-R

No hitting others if they are sad. BY

Always be kind to others. MO

What we learnt from our "Follow the Leader" game..

We learnt:

Leaders need other people to lead. 

Being kind to other people in the line. 

We like all the people that go in between us. 

It's good to follow even if the person that you're following is not in the front. 

You have to do what the leader does. If its really really hard, you have to try.

A teacher is a leader too. 

Welcome back!

Welcome back to Term 2 everyone! It promises to be a fantastic term with lots of learning happening in Room 8. 

Our inquiry topic is: Leadership. We will be looking at how we can be leaders and what being a leader actually means. 

We are looking forward to sharing all our learning with you on our blog and in the classroom :)
